STODOLA - AFFAIRS

Stodola (Polish for barn) is the name of a painterly courtyard near the South Polish town of Tarnowskie Gory.

The artist Arthur Lubos lives and works here. The old barn on the property is simultaneously a studio, cafe and venue for different types of musical concerts.
Since the opening of these concert venues countless musicians from Poland and the rest of the world have performed here;
Tomasz Stanko, Al Di Meola, Motion Trio, Joachim Menzel, Janusz Muniak, Nippy Noya, Piotr Wojtasik.........to name but a few of the most prominent ones. I got to know this beautiful place in the Autumn of 2004 when, at the invitation of the German-Polish Institute, I had the opportunity of giving a concert in the Stodola with the Valktrio.

The night ended with a sociable evening with Borscht and Vodka and some 'new' friends.

One of them is the Gleiwitzer drummer Arek Skolik who, on the same evening began to forge plans, and so it came about that the following summer 2005 a new trio with Arek Skolik, the bass player Romuald Twarocek and myself was formed:

STODOLA - AFFAIRS

The concerts in Tschenstochowa, Gliwice, Krakow, Posen, Tarnowskie Gory were huge, enabling us to continue working together in November of the same year with further gigs in the country as well as recording a live CD. In 2006 we were also on the road in South Germany. To be continued!
By the way Romek isn't only a wonderful bass player but unquestionably the best.....soft ice cream producer in the whole of southern Poland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
