MOTUS

Music for Church Organ, Reeds and Percussion

Motus, the latin word for movement, agitation also describes die small riff islands of atolls in the tropical sea.

Hendrik Soll (Organ),
Claudius Valk (Saxophone) and
Klaus Kugel (Percussion)
have developed a concert program that relates to both meanings of the word Motus. fourteen minimalistic compositions are connected in aleatoric order by improvisation of soloists or the collective. As result we get an open always morphing structure variable in length, start and ending points, order of sections.dMusicians and audience are beeing led into the room within inner and outer world. A musical journey through a world of small and strictly designed "islands" with a lot of space between the dstations and always open end. pictures arise, öbecome nothing again, change and distort permute into new. the church room it self is not only concerthall but by including the tremenous accoustic it becomes the fourth member of the ensemble, interacting and interfering the process of musical development, becomming part of a conversation far beyond stilistic frontiers

Dpecial thanks to Pfarrer Michael Windhövel und Achim Watzlawik of Friedenskirche in Krefeld. They made this project possible.
